Sulphur Springs is a city in and the county seat of Hopkins County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 15,941. Sulphur Springs is located along the western edge of Northeast Texas. == History == Sulphur Springs was named so because when the area was first settled, springs of sulfurous water were abundant. Eli Bib, one of the first European-American settlers, ran a store from his cabin, selling staples, whiskey, persimmon beer, and slabs of ginger cake.
